Claxton's Exploration Benrinnes 9 Year Old 2013 Red Wine Cask is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky independently bottled by Claxton's Spirits, matured in red wine casks, bottled at 50% ABV with a volume of 700ml. Distilled at Benrinnes Distillery in Speyside in 2013 and aged for 9 years inside red wine casks under Claxton’s Exploration series. This wine-finished malt balances classic Speyside fruitiness with vibrant wine influences. The nose offers ripe red berries, stewed plum, honeyed malt, dark grape and subtle dried floral notes. On the palate, juicy red fruit, berry jam, gentle tannic oak and sweet cereal malt interweave, with enough body to complement the 50% strength. The finish lingers with red berry compote, dark fruit and faint wine acidity. Perfect sampled neat; a small amount of water helps unlock more layered red fruit aromatics.
