A wine of remarkable potential that won bronze at the 2023 Japan Wine Competition even though the vines were only in their second year. It is made exclusively from Chardonnay harvested at Masamitsuen. Yamakita in Kagami, Konan City, Kochi Prefecture, has been renowned for delicious satsuma mandarins since 1855. The vineyard lies on the southern foot of a mountain containing the Ryugado limestone cave. Its distinctive inverted-U-shaped terrain opens toward the Pacific, receiving sunlight throughout the year, while mineral-rich calcareous soils drain freely. The grapes were harvested in August 2022 and fermented in stainless steel. Maturation lasted approximately ten months: 25% in French oak and 75% in stainless steel.
