Ardbeg Drum Feis Ile 2019 is a limited distillery-exclusive Islay single malt released for the annual Feis Ile festival, bottled at 46% ABV in a standard 700ml bottle. Matured in ex-rum casks, it marries Ardbeg’s iconic heavy medicinal peat with rich tropical fruit sweetness unique to rum wood maturation. The nose opens with smouldering seaweed smoke, briny coastal iodine, ripe pineapple, banana cream, vanilla and subtle dark molasses. On the palate, intense phenolic peat sits alongside vibrant tropical fruit, soft molasses sweetness and balanced medium alcohol warmth, with gentle spiced oak tannins rounding out the profile. Its lengthy finish lingers on lingering smoke, candied tropical fruit and faint caramel, a rare festival special edition best savoured neat to fully appreciate its striking rum-cask peat contrast.
