Maltbarn Islay Malt 15 Years Old 2008 is a peaty cask-strength Islay single malt independently bottled by Maltbarn, distilled in 2008 and matured for fifteen years at 54.4% ABV in a standard 700ml bottle. It balances smoky medicinal peat, briny coastal minerality and ripe dark fruit softened by long oak maturation. Its aroma unfolds smoldering seaweed peat, iodine brine, blackberry jam, dried fig and subtle vanilla wood sweetness. The palate delivers bold smoky depth, juicy dark berry brightness and intense medium cask-strength heat rounded by smooth wood tannins. It finishes long and layered with lingering medicinal smoke, saline maritime notes and slow-fading dried fruit warmth. Best enjoyed neat or with a tiny splash of water, this limited bottling captures classic Islay’s powerful peat-and-sea malt character refined by 15 years of cask ageing.
