Maltbarn Orkney Malt 17 Years Old 2006 is a rare Islands single malt independently bottled by Maltbarn, distilled in 2006 and matured for 17 years at cask strength 52.7% ABV in a standard 700ml bottle. It delivers Orkney’s unique quiet coastal minerality, soft dried stone fruit and silky vanilla oak from long slow maturation. Its aroma unfolds dried apricot, floral honey, faint sea salt brine, cereal malt and gentle creamy wood spice. The palate offers smooth concentrated dried fruit sweetness, rounded malt depth and balanced medium cask-strength warmth with soft velvety tannins. It finishes long and delicate with lingering saline mineral notes, dried fruit and slow-fading vanilla oak. Best savoured neat or with a tiny splash of water, this limited bottling highlights Orkney’s subtle maritime island malt character shaped by decades of cask ageing.
