Darkness Peated Highland Single Malt 20 Years Old is a rare long-aged independent peated Highland malt bottled by Master of Malt for the charred-oak Darkness range, released at cask strength 53.5% ABV in a limited 500ml small format. Its aroma merges smouldering heather peat smoke, dark roasted coffee, burnt toffee, dried dark berry jam, charred oak and subtle wild honey, blending heavy peat with deep charcoal cask richness from two decades of maturation. The palate delivers powerful medicinal smoky brine upfront, viscous thick malt, robust burnt wood tannins, ripe dark fruit compote and faint liquorice to balance the intense phenolic peat core. It features an exceptionally long lingering finish of slow-fading ash, preserved dark stone fruit and deep roasted charred oak warmth. This ultra-limited aged peated charred-cask malt works neat or lightly watered to soften harsh tannins, coveted by collectors for its rare fusion of 20-year Highland peat and unapologetic dark roasted cask character unique to the Darkness series.
