Murray McDavid Caol Ila 8 Year Old 2014 is a peated Islay single malt independently bottled by Murray McDavid at robust 50% ABV with a 700ml volume. Matured eight years in hand-selected oak casks, it balances sharp medicinal coastal peat smoke with bright fresh citrus and soft briny mineral malt notes. The aroma carries smoldering seaweed ash, zesty lemon peel, saline sea spray, light cereal grain and subtle vanilla oak undertones. The palate offers concentrated smoke-citrus core, gentle maritime spice and silky medium-full texture. It holds a long vivid finish with persistent briny peat warmth and lingering bright citrus brightness. Best savoured neat, a tiny splash of water softens its bold strength and unlocks intricate layers of smoke, salt and fresh citrus fruit.
