Islay Gold Select Reserve is an entry-level Islay blended malt whisky produced by Ian MacLeod Distillers, bottled at 40% ABV in a standard 700ml bottle. Distilled from peated Islay barley, it delivers coastal sea salt smoke, fresh medicinal peat ash, ripe green apple malt sweetness, subtle seaweed brine, light vanilla oak and faint citrus zest. Its upfront aroma carries bright coastal peat intertwined with soft fruity malt brightness. The palate presents approachable light peat smoke balanced by gentle cereal sweetness, faint saline marine notes and mild oak spice, leading to a short clean finish with lingering ash and fresh green fruit hints. Accessible for new peat whisky drinkers, it works well neat, on ice or in simple highball cocktails.
