This mezcal is made by a small artisan community in San Luis Potosí, central Mexico, using methods handed down for more than 200 years. Wild green agave (Agave salmiana) from semi-desert slopes and plains is transformed through local processes into a herbal spirit with clove notes and a lingering mineral, spicy finish.
Pairings: Smoked fish stew, fresh goat cheese, and white or ruby chocolate.
Nose: Cooked agave, caramel, green chilli, sweet fruit, fresh vegetation and lime zest.
Palate: Herbal, with clove nuances.
The red decanter honours the Huachichil, nomadic people of the San Luis Potosí desert. Their Nahuatl name means red-painted head, referring to the red pigment used on their heads and faces and their reverence for the red-headed house finch. The base depicts their native plains, mountains and green agaves. Each handmade cap features colourful threadwork showing the bird flying through a dreamlike starry sky, watching over the desert mountains and valleys once travelled by the nomads.
The presentation packaging may have cosmetic damage or imperfections.
