Tasting Notes
Summarised from Suntory's notes for the 2025 edition:
- Nose: Pineapple and vanilla cream, with the toasted character of hojicha, a Japanese roasted green tea.
- Palate: Light and soft, with delicate sweetness reminiscent of wasanbon, a fine Japanese sugar, and a slight bitter edge.
- Finish: Smouldering-ember smoke and a gently bittersweet aftertaste.
The Forest Behind the Label
The 2025 design depicts Hakushu Distillery surrounded by its forest. Suntory used Echizen washi, a traditional Japanese paper, for the label. Our photograph shows the green bottle alongside the matching illustrated carton. Explore the Hakushu collection or browse more Japanese whisky.
