Speymalt from Macallan 2002/2023 for JIS is an exclusive limited Speyside single malt independently bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for the Japanese whisky society JIS, drawn at cask strength 54.3% ABV into a standard 700ml bottle. Distilled in 2002 and matured for 21 years until bottling in 2023, it delivers Macallan’s signature opulent sherry fruit depth amplified by undiluted full cask intensity. The nose bursts with sun-dried sultana, ripe black fig, candied orange peel, warm cinnamon spice and polished aged vanilla oak. On the palate, jammy dark sherry fruit sweetness mingles with silky creamy malt and robust elevated alcohol warmth, framed by decades-mellowed refined oak tannins. Its extraordinarily lengthy finish lingers on preserved dried berry, nutty wood spice and subtle dark toffee; this scarce society-only collectible bottling is best savoured neat, with only a tiny drop of mineral water if desired to soften its potent cask strength.
