A masterpiece that can only be made by hand. Satsuma Town has grown into Kyushu's number one producer of Nankoume. This authentic plum wine is made by soaking Satsuma Nanko plums grown locally in Satsuma Town in our own shochu for over 10 months.
Whole, large, fleshy green plums are pickled for a long period of time to fully extract the green plum extract, and the pickled green plums are then processed into a paste by hand and mixed in generously, resulting in a flavorful plum wine that allows you to enjoy the full Nanko plum flavor. Because many of the processes are handmade, there is a limited number of products manufactured each year. In June 2025, the bottle design was redesigned so that you can now enjoy the fruity texture of plum wine.
Ko Brewing Umeshu 13 degree is a rare, approachable Japanese umeshu bottled at 13% ABV in a 720ml bottle. This hand‑crafted release by Komaki Brewery showcases Kyushu plum’s signature bright, fruity character, transformed by careful fruit infusion into a rich, multi‑layered expression. The nose reveals notes of fresh ume plum, soft stone fruit, honeyed orchard sweetness, and subtle gentle florals. On the palate, it is full‑bodied and silky, with flavors of ripe stone fruit, light toffee, bright fruity spice, and a touch of mellow fruit depth. The long, lingering finish underscores the authentic, well‑integrated character of this Kagoshima‑produced Japanese umeshu.
