Claxton's Exploration Islay Single Malt 6 Year Old 2017 is a youthful peaty Islay single malt independent bottling from Claxton's Spirits at 50% ABV with a 700ml volume. Distilled in 2017 and matured six years on Islay’s rugged coast, it delivers bold medicinal sea peat smoke balanced with bright citrus fruit and briny malt undertones. The aroma carries damp coastal ash, zesty lemon, green apple, light sea brine and lightly charred oak notes. The palate offers smooth layered smoke-fruited core, subtle mineral saline warmth and velvety medium texture. It holds a clean brisk lingering finish with fresh citrus brightness and persistent coastal smoky oak depth. Best savoured neat, light water dilution softens its punchy peat intensity to reveal intricate ash, fruit and salted malt layers.
