Mac-Talla Oloroso is an Islay single malt produced by Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers, bottled at a robust cask strength of 54.8% ABV in a standard 700ml bottle. Matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry casks, it delivers rich dried dark fruit, thick raisin and fig compote, velvety dark caramel, polished sherry oak, subtle smoldering peat smoke and faint dark spice undertones characteristic of Islay’s peated malt paired with heavy sherry influence. The nose unfolds with jammy dried stone fruit, warm dark vanilla and soft medicinal peat smoke layered with rich sherry sweetness. The palate balances intense fruity sherry richness with restrained coastal smoky depth, faint dried citrus zest and tightly structured integrated oak tannins. Its long warming finish lingers with dark dried fruit, ash peat and lingering spiced sherry oak whispers. Best savoured neat with a tiny splash of spring water to temper its high strength and reveal the intricate interplay of sherry sweetness and classic Islay peat complexity.
