Tasting Notes
The following summarises the subjective impressions in a Japanese review first published in April 2020, rather than an in-house tasting. The review discusses the same 40.2% expression in other bottle sizes; these notes are a guide to the expression, not a tasting of this individual 750ml bottle.
- Nose: Vanilla followed by a light, tangy fruit impression.
- Palate: Sweet vanilla develops into grassy, woodland-like notes.
- Finish: A lingering sweet vanilla aroma with a comparatively clean finish.
An Icy Design from the Game of Thrones Collaboration
Released in 2019, A Song of Ice brings the series' wintry imagery to Johnnie Walker's familiar bottle shape. The wolf artwork and blue-and-white palette distinguish this edition visually, while Clynelish malt provides a link to the northern Highlands. This is the historical collaboration release, with no vintage or bottling year claimed for the individual bottle offered here.

Frequently Asked Questions
What size and strength is this bottle?
This listing is for a 750ml bottle at 40.2% ABV. Other markets have offered different sizes, so check the size shown on each listing.
Is A Song of Ice a single malt?
No. It is a blended Scotch whisky. Clynelish is identified as a key malt component, rather than the sole source of the whisky.
Does A Song of Ice have an age statement?
No age statement is given for this expression. Its 2019 release date does not indicate the age or distillation year of the whisky.
How is this whisky connected to Game of Thrones?
It was created as a limited-edition collaboration with the television series. The bottle shown here carries the A Song of Ice label and a prominent wolf illustration.
How can I serve A Song of Ice?
Try a small pour neat, then add a little water to compare the aromas. The Japanese reviewer found that water brought a softer, fresher impression; serving preferences are personal.
